PMG is a good solution which would allow me to play at a number of courses I had not played at and do so at good rates while travelling. I must say it was the right decision as I have really played at some awesome courses in Cape Town. Erinvale is magnificent and I have also enjoyed Boschenmeer , Devonvale and Stellenbosch. These are all reasonably close to me and booking T-times quite easy except for Erinvale which seems to only allow PM during off peak periods. As do a few others??
KZN has also got some great courses but although Shepstone and Margate are listed as PM courses I have never seen times being made available at these two clubs. The Wild Coast only has afternoon times so I tried to avoid this course as the wind can get pretty crazy in the afternoon in KZN.
Overall my experience has been great and I’m off to play Atlantic beach for the first time tomorrow.
Two and a half years ago I walked into The Pro Shop in Woodmead to purchase a set of golf clubs. I had never played golf before, but figured that it may be good for my business if I attended golf days etc. As soon as my purchase was complete, I was “accosted” by a Play More Golf salesperson who tried very hard to sell me a PMG membership. But being the sceptic that I am, I listened intently but decided against a PMG membership. I then took some lessons and soon became a member of a golf club. But I kept on bumping into members of PMG who were all telling me how great it is to be a member – playing different courses at discount prices, golf days, birdie points etc. I became intrigued, so on my next visit to the Pro Shop (these visits tend to be about once a week), I looked for the PMG salesman and signed up!
And was that ever the right decision. I am still a member at my golf club, but I play for two weekends at away clubs using my PMG membership, and the other two I play at my home club. I have seen and played some incredible clubs via PMG and intend doing so for a long time to come.
My advice for people looking for “value for money golf? Join Play More Golf. You will not find better value for money anywhere else!
So I’ll see you on a PMG golf course. Look for me. I’m the one shouting “has anyone seen my ball”.
A very satisfied PMG member.
I was a late starter to golf, a middle-aged Business Athlete Male seeking to find out what the fuss was all about when growing up. My real introduction to Golf started with my PMG-4 partial affiliated membership with access to Golf Village practice facilities, with the desire to have an official handicap, play competitively, and play the greatest game on earth, and there is no other.
Golf has been my therapy dealing with the knocks of life, and happy to report that starting in 2012, a 18 PMG handicapper is now a fully integrated 3 handicapper competing in Mid-Am, Country districts and Open Order of Merit in the SA Amateur Rankings.
Isn’t this what the game needs? An ambassador for improved quality of life; better golfing versions of themselves, integrating with country clubs and growing the game, because there is no other.
Come on SA- Play More Golf!
